Ensonglopedia is an arts charity making educational musical comedies about a wide range of science topics, which tour nationally to theatre venues and schools.
In addition, we offer a wide range of stand-alone creative workshops for schools and groups which bring the science curriculum to life through engaging and enriching activities and provide memorable and inspiring experiences for pupils of all all ages from EYFS to KS4.
ABOUT OUR WORKSHOPS
Our participatory activities are led by our team of experienced arts-educators and creative practitioners, including performers, songwriters, artists and designers.
Workshops are based around a range of art-forms including:
- songwriting
- drama
- art
- circus skills
- animation
These activities can support the teaching of science concepts across the entire curriculum and bespoke matches can be made between different arts activities and different science topics.
WHO WE WORK WITH
- Our workshops can be tailored to suit groups of all ages and abilities, from EYFS to KS4.
- We have worked extensively with children with SEND and with children in pupil referral units and other alternative provision.
- We can work with whole class groups of up to 30 children – sometimes more
- Workshops can run at a time to suit your group, whether that is during school hours, as an after school club activity or even as a holiday activity.
- Ensonglopedia is committed to providing equitable access for audiences to enjoy our workshops and shows and we are happy to discuss access needs to provide the best experience for all.
WORKSHOPS WE OFFER
Our ready-to-book workshops include:
Science Songwriting: In this workshop, pupils will learn about rhyme, song structure, word painting, and other songwriting techniques before applying them to a scientific theme.
Workshop Length: 1 – 3hrs (flexible). For: 12-30 participants, can be adapted for any age group from 7 to adult
The Human Body Through Drama: A fun, lively session in which pupils will act out key processes such as digestion, the central nervous system, blood circulation, and disease prevention, helping them understand how these systems work in an active and memorable way.
Workshop Length: 1 .5 hrs (flexible). For: 12-30 participants, best suited for children in KS2 (aged 7-11) or KS3 (11-14)
The Science of Juggling: This hands-on session combines circus skills with scientific exploration. As pupils learn to juggle, balance peacock feathers, and spin plates, they’ll also discover the science behind the tricks—covering topics like gravity, air resistance, friction, gyroscopes, brain hemispheres, and rotational axes.
Workshop Length: 1 – 1.5 hrs (flexible). For up to 40 participants, best suited for children in KS2 (aged 7-11) or KS3 (11-14)
OUR FEES
All our workshops are delivered by DBS checked facilitators. Cost will depend on a number of factors, for example travel distance, bespoke requests, facilitators required, savings on admin costs if multiple sessions are booked, etc., but as a rough guide, we currently (late 2026) charge £400 for a one-off half-day workshop with 2 facilitators. Workshops are considerably cheaper if booked in conjunction with a show.
BESPOKE WORKSHOPS & PROJECTS
As well as ready-to-book workshops, we are always happy to work with your requirements to design a bespoke workshop, residency or project. Whether you want to cover a specific topic in an afternoon, link certain art forms to science themes in after school club sessions, or plan a whole term of creative science sessions, we’re happy to help. Here are some examples of bespoke projects we’ve delivered:
Climate Science through Drama: At Shoreham Beach Primary School, Sussex we ran an after-school drama club exploring climate change through physical theatre, soundscapes, and songwriting.
Board Games about Light: At Millais School, Sussex, we ran a two-session project where students designed board games to teach the science of light.
Anatomy through 3D Design & Craft: We worked with two primary schools in County Durham to explore anatomy through 3D design, animation, and crafts.
